The Other Elite -- Elite for Hair

Forget the Real Housewives and their anointed hairdressers with rock star-status.  Upper Georgetown is blessed with Elite for Hair, where you only have to make an appointment to be among the notables.  Elite for Hair has morphed from a barber shop where owner, Peruvian-born Phil Cabellos, tended to Washington’s male elite -- including several Secretaries of State -- into its current unisex mini-spa status.

In 2003, Brazilian Silvio Torres, who had tamed best tresses at Watergate and other prestigious venues, and Michael Sarikaya from Turkey, made the move up Wisconsin from Hair International.  Partners Antonio Sari and Yusuf Aslan came aboard in late 2008, turning the salon into a mini-U.N.  The salon’s current clientele runs the gamut from the very young to familiar faces on the Washington scene.

Silvio’s sister Eliza Ramos offers Brazilian waxing and the salon is certified to provide the newest hair care sensation, the pricey but sensational Brazilian Blowout, which conditions hair through a Keratin treatment, leaving it virtually maintenance free for up to three months.
