Dads featured Sunday at Concerts in the Park
Wes Tucker and the Skillets headline this Sunday’s Concert the Park with R&B and jam-based ballads in an afternoon extravaganza on Father’s Day in Rose Park.
The park will be transformed into a laboratory at 4:30 pm with Mad Science Experiments for kids, including make-your-own-slime, insta-snow and sun-sensitive paper. Trade in your lab coat for a construction hat you decorate yourself. A huge excavator will be parked near Rose Park to climb on – a prize goes to the kid who guesses how much it weighs.
Father's Day activities include an arts and crafts table to make Father's Day cards and #1 Dad medals. During the concert intermission there will be 3-legged races, egg relays, and a Dance with Dad competition. Prizes have been donated by Sherman Pickey, J.McLaughlin, Vineyard Vines, and Grooming Lounge.
Refreshments courtesy of Nancy Taylor Bubes and Washington Fine Properties as well as a "Take Pictures with Dad" station will be highlights. TTR/Sotheby's International Realty provides the popular sno-cone machine with balloons on hand. Jettie's, Häagen-Dazs and Sprinkles Cupcakes will also provide goodies.
The concert runs Sunday 5:00 to 6:30 pm in Rose Park at 26th & P Streets, sponsored by the Citizens Association of Georgetown.
