Mr. Boffi comes to Georgetown

Ever wonder who invented the modern kitchen, introduced color appliances, wood cabinets that match laminate counter tops, mobile kitchen workstations?

Boffi (1934), Boffi (1954), Boffi (1960), Boffi (1963).  

His father, Piero  founded the company, and since 1947, Paolo and his brothers Dino and Pier Ugo have been creating Boffi kitchens (and baths). Over the decades, with their commitment to excellence and innovation, the company has collaborated with design icons including Joe Colombo, Piero Lissoni and Antonio Citterio.

Tuesday evening, Paolo Boffi made a very special appearance at Boffi Georgetown to talk about the family business and unveil the company’s latest kitchen installations.

L2 Lounge hosted the design lecture before the Boffi reception.

Through his interpreter Silvia Rigozzi, Mr. Boffi regaled the design-savvy crowd, noting milestones in Boffi kitchen design and sharing recollections.  On a recent outing with fellow designers, “I fell, nothing serious, but my friends were concerned,” Boffi smiled, “Who will we copy if you die?,” they asked.
